Join Westwind Farm for two natural food-related events: a tomato festival on Sunday, September 10, and the fall’s first bread-baking class on Sunday, September 17.

The tomato festival has free admission and runs from 1 to 4 p.m. An entry fee of $5 is accepted to participate in the home-grown tomato tasting contest, and for $10, a tomato-based lunch will be served. In addition, the festival will feature a cherry tomato spitting contest and provide opportunities to learn about, enjoy and taste tomatoes.

The next week, from 1 to 4 p.m., Linda Purdy will lead one of her bread-making classes. She says, “We’ll be doing sourdough and English muffins, two contrasting and very tasty types of breads.”Friends are welcome to join, and fresh-baked bread will be ready to take home. The class costs $30 per person.

Please register in advance because the class size limit is 10.

Westwind Farm is located at 11487 Reid Rd., Swartz Creek. For more information about either event, call Linda Purdy at 810-701-8151 or visit WestwindMilling.com.
